Flipped, Cairo Time, Valhalla Rising

Three great films no one knows about. Valhalla is the least approachable and most of you will not like it - but what a film. Cairo Time is reminiscent of my time in the Middle East so I loved it. Flipped is a solid family film that my kids and I watched together and got some good messages out of it.

Expendables, Eat,Pray,Love, Alice Creed

Disappearance is well performed but twisted flick. Expendables is what you would expect - cheesy but fun. Eat,Pray,Love can suck it. I have 100 things to say about this film and story, and the rants in the store can be entertaining.

Locked Down would be a skipper unless you are a hardcore MMA fan...Scott Pilgrim was a lot of fun - has repeat viewing power. Lovely Still was sad, tragic, but beautiful and worthy of a watch this holiday season.....

Centurion, Once Fallen

Centurion was actually a decent Roman epic. Great scenery, ok storyline, but definitely worthy. Once Fallen was horrible..the only Ed Harris film I would say to skip in his long lineage of movies. I would say maybe watch it if in the mood to see how bad Robocop's career has gone - laughable here.

What a fun film - I figured out why you can't get this online or any stores around here except for mine - no subtitles and not released here in the US - never stopped me though. What a fun film. Will be in the foreign section tomorrow. And yes this is the original film that was once again made into a bad American remake. This story actually has four films all under Besson's name.

Predators, Please Give, Giallo, Six Wives of Crap

Giallo was absolute crap, as was Six Wives of Tim Allen's career in the crapper, Please Give was decent and watchable, Predators was disappointing, as were the deleted scenes on the BD.

The Mad Max Blue was actually a good transfer - the whole set is a worthy purchase as it has the old dubs and DVD also. Arn was a solid Swedish epic - they have been making some great flicks. Greek wasn't even stupid - it was just lame, unfunny and a waste of time. Killer Inside Me was one of the better made films I will never watch again. DISCLAIMER: if you have issue with watching films that contain WAY too much domestic violence towards women - then please skip this one. Most brutal film I have seen - and I have watched some violent films.

Skeptic - big whatever...lame. Other Man - not the biggest fan of this but there are those out there arguing how superior and grand it is - even bigger whatever, but a side note on Linney's nude pictures - they were beautiful...Hangover was great fun and Basters was Tarantino indulging again; if you embrace Quentin you will adore this film.

Vicious Circle, 3:10 to Yuma Blu, Appaloosa Blu

VC was a good little film no one will watch - artsy but good. Was in a Western mood: a little wine and a little reminder of what an emotional dad/son flick can feel like - 3:10 and Ben Foster's performance of loyalty makes any Western feel paled - Appaloosa is still right up there with one of the best friendship films ever made after Unforgiven.

Humble Pie, Public Enemies, World's Greatest Dad

Humble Pie is a great little film. Public Enemies is fine, not what I had hoped for in the historical department - but Mann had some awesome attention to props, World's Greatest Dad is a depressing, unfunny and lame film - skipper all the way.

Julie & Julia, Carriers, Jeff Dunham XMas

Julie & Julia is such a great film - I had reservations about it with the amount of ladies pleading for this film the last 2 months - but I REALLY liked how cute (not my best wording but oh well) this was.

Carriers is Pine's latest and I was unimpressed - customers were picking it apart like crazy while it played in the store; how many times can you load/chamber a round the same gun/same scene before it gets really stupid? (for the record it was 4). He has a good screen presence though.

Rewatched Jeff Dunham XMas Special from last year in the store last night and it had people cracking up with laughter.

Term Salvation, How I Met Your Mom, Cutthroat Island

Saved this for a single post - wanted to put a long review out there but I have noticed that anyone who comments other than perfect for this film gets lambasted. Apparently this was the highest thought of film at Sundance 08, and reviewers across the board give this a rating of perfection....whatever. It was depressing, bleak, boring and uneventful to those outside the region it was filmed in - but the performances were solid. Not a valid Blu - but that is the way it goes I guess.

The Line, Marc Pease

Apparently some people out there feel Spread is some incredible film - but really it was just a soft core film for Ashton to bang away on...Accidental Husband once again shows the fire service in a completely lame film, and Red Heat turned out decent on Blu...It was so long since I had seen this that I forgot about Arnold being in the buff...again - he seemed to do that alot in the 80s.

Wings of Desire, Ugly Truth
