Other Guys, Easy A, Town

The Director's Cut of Town (Blu only) was outstanding. Easy A was actually really good, nice surprise. And no surprise the Other Guys sucked it.

Flipped, Cairo Time, Valhalla Rising

Three great films no one knows about. Valhalla is the least approachable and most of you will not like it - but what a film. Cairo Time is reminiscent of my time in the Middle East so I loved it. Flipped is a solid family film that my kids and I watched together and got some good messages out of it.

Expendables, Eat,Pray,Love, Alice Creed

Disappearance is well performed but twisted flick. Expendables is what you would expect - cheesy but fun. Eat,Pray,Love can suck it. I have 100 things to say about this film and story, and the rants in the store can be entertaining.

2 great ones...1 skipper

Locked Down would be a skipper unless you are a hardcore MMA fan...Scott Pilgrim was a lot of fun - has repeat viewing power. Lovely Still was sad, tragic, but beautiful and worthy of a watch this holiday season.....

Centurion, Once Fallen

Centurion was actually a decent Roman epic. Great scenery, ok storyline, but definitely worthy. Once Fallen was horrible..the only Ed Harris film I would say to skip in his long lineage of movies. I would say maybe watch it if in the mood to see how bad Robocop's career has gone - laughable here.

Some BD updates for the store...

Moved the BD New Releases to the aptly named section of the store - just above the Kids Section. The archives are still in their same spots center aisle and by the shark.

Taxi - fun Luc Besson film

What a fun film - I figured out why you can't get this online or any stores around here except for mine - no subtitles and not released here in the US - never stopped me though. What a fun film. Will be in the foreign section tomorrow. And yes this is the original film that was once again made into a bad American remake. This story actually has four films all under Besson's name.

Predators, Please Give, Giallo, Six Wives of Crap

Giallo was absolute crap, as was Six Wives of Tim Allen's career in the crapper, Please Give was decent and watchable, Predators was disappointing, as were the deleted scenes on the BD.

Mad Max, How To Train Your Dragon, Arn

The Mad Max Blue was actually a good transfer - the whole set is a worthy purchase as it has the old dubs and DVD also. Arn was a solid Swedish epic - they have been making some great flicks. And BY FAR one of the best movies this year, HTTYD is not a renter - it is a buyer! Guaranteed you will like it or your money back...

The great this week...

Party Down is a hilariously dry show - worth the watch. Community was a great surprise - funny, real, refreshing for taking the risk...give it a shot.

The bad this week...

Greek wasn't even stupid - it was just lame, unfunny and a waste of time. Killer Inside Me was one of the better made films I will never watch again. DISCLAIMER: if you have issue with watching films that contain WAY too much domestic violence towards women - then please skip this one. Most brutal film I have seen - and I have watched some violent films.

Thin Red Line Criterion Blu

Phenomenal Blu. Already one of my favorite films but this preservation was beautiful. Worthwhile book included.

30 Rock Season 4, Iron Man 2

Iron Man 2 is as expected, just big entertainment that goes nowhere - just an Avengers setup. 30 Rock is as hilarious as ever.

Secret in their Eyes, Spartacus, How I met Your Mother S5

Wow - what a week. Secret is outstanding - deserved the Oscar. HIMYM is as hilarious as always - hit too close to home a few times but loved it. Spartacus - damn...hot sex and tons of CGI - I got out of it exactly what I wanted.

League S1, Sunny S5 & John Rabe

John Rabe was another solid (and overlooked) WWII film, Sunny can get on your nerve with their bickering but got through most of it - League was HILARIOUS! Worth your time.

The Road, Dear John

Dear John was a shmaltzy pile of crap - poorly written and acted. But - the behind the scenes are worthy to watch on the BD regarding the Military advising. The Road is bleak, dark and depressing. Great performances - just have to want to see it really bad.
